American Guinea Hogs

American Guinea Hogs are social and a favorite of visitors here, flopping over for belly rubs to the delight of those unfamiliar with the breed. These personable porcines are far and away the easiest keepers on the farm. They do very well foraging, on pasture or in the woodlot and require just a 3 sided shelter to get in out of the weather. They excel at turning over the soil for garden areas, rototilling and fertilizing as they go! They are great mothers and non-aggressive, allowing handling of the piglets from day one for socialization. We just love this breed!

We run several lines which enables us to offer unrelated pairs or trios to those wishing to start their own breeding programs. Feeder piglets are occasionally available. This is the perfect “Homestead” pig, easy to work with and a provider of tasty home grown pork. The American Guinea Hog is listed in the Slow Foods USA’s “Arc of Good Taste”.
